Cherry Pickers

Mike picking the cherries. Grandpa said they were not quite ripe but they tasted good to these guys. I actually tried one this year and still don't like them!!
Christy snagging a few cherries to take home.
Sid wanting to show you how many cherries would be on one branch. They look like grapes in this picture. Unbelievable.
A view of the 33 tomatoes plants that are getting ready to burst with tomatoes. Is he crazy???

Grandpa and his "chicks" Not to be confused with girls!!

Well, here are the 31 chicks that grandpa ordered. They are 1 week old in this picture. He called this morning and said one of them is sick so he has removed him from the group and feeding him special water with medicine in it. Notice the little roosts he built to teach them to roost in the coop.

this is the side of the coop that people enter. Grandpa is explaining how he wished he would have put an overhang on the outside to protect the front from the weather. He can still do it I suppose.

This is the view you get from the house. He will be putting a little door on the right side of the coop for the chickens to be able to go in and out. The chain link fence goes up this week. the chicks have to stay in the pen in the garage until they are 10 weeks old. He will then move them into the coop. Grandpa is so funny when he talks about his little babies!! He says he puts them to bed around 9:30pm and then they get up so early. I asked him what they do when they get up and he said they start eating and drinking and running around the pen. (And that's a problem????) He sure is getting attached to these little guys. I would not be surprised if he named them all.

Random shots

This was my favorite appetizer at the Mexican place. A split avocado with fresh shrimp on a bed of lettuce with a tortilla chip base. So good we had to go back another night and order them again!

Can you believe that Sid got a manicure and a pedicure. We had to take a picture just to prove it!! His toes have never looked better and I pity the poor lady who had to work on them!! His hands are beautiful with a clear coat of polish that he still has on today!! Can't wait to show the girls at the office.
Had to have the smell the flower shot. Kandis did that in Hawaii when she was a little girl!!

Night shot on the balcony looking down from the place where we ate. It is even beautiful at night!!

Playing on the Beach

Kandis did this pose on the beach in Florida and Hawaii so now she can add Cancun to the list! You go girl!!!
Watch that hand Nic!! The waves were really crashing this morning we took these pictures. The color of the water is amazing!
Who is that sexy couple on the rocks!! They must be on their honeymoon.

Oh, my gosh it is grandma and grandpa Kelly!! Not bad for a couple of old people!!

Xpu-Ha

These birds were the prettiest color of orange. They honked like geese and were so pretty. Nic found some chocolate dessert at the place we ate and decided to share it with all of us!!
The stand up body wash before going to the beach to play!!
Nic being funny!! We are at the family resort now!!

Tulum

This picture shows everything including the iguana to the left of us!! We didn't even know it was in the picture. It was a beautiful day and the ruins were spectacular. This was the 3rd time Sid and I have been there but we still loved the tour and learning more about the Mayan culture. Our tour guide was great! If I was a Mayan this would be were I would want to live.

Heading down to the beach to cool off! The waves were big and the water temp was perfect. It was a blast to body surf.
This was the 3 of us in the waves. I did have a pummeling from the wave and lost my suit bottom only to be beaten down by the next wave. I quickly recovered and pulled up my bottoms and escaped sure death by drowning!! I coughed up a lot of sea water but recovered!

Room with a View!

This is Kandis and Nic on the balcony of our Presidential Suite. We are looking out the left side of the balcony at the wedding pavilion and the farthest inlet. It was very quiet on our end of the resort. We are on the Spa side of the resort. this is looking at the right side of the balcony.
Another day in paradise! Hey Pool boy, bring me a strawberry daiquiri!! Sid took this picture looking up at our suite. Check out Nic's speedo!! Whoo-hoo!!!

We are Back!!

Words can not express what a wonderful time we had in Cancun. The weather was perfect and the company (Kandis & Nic) were SO much fun!! It didn't hurt that we were in the Presidential Suite and had the perfect view of the ocean every day and evening!! The food was great and the pampering was amazing. Yes, your father actually had a mani/pedi and a back massage. Sid even signed up for a full Holistic massage the day before we returned home and LOVED it!! Who wouldn't love to have someone make you feel relaxed and great!! We had fun in Tulum and played in the ocean at Tulum and Xpu-Ha and saw the other Palace resorts in Playa Del Carmen and Cozumel. Kandis and I didn't dive, but the boys did a dive in Cozumel and Nic is converted to the dive scene now!! It doesn't take much to have a fantastic time!! We have a new love for the Miami Vice drink (non-alcholoic) and love the new crepe shop that served us delicious crepes when ever we wanted. Oh, yeah, the room service was really sweet to have when you didn't feel like walking over to the restaurants!! What a week!! Pictures to follow. Yes, we did see naked people!! It must be the European holiday in May when they all seem to show up at the Aventura Palace Resort!! You all need to save up and join us next time!!

I have my passport ready to go and hopefully we will be able to get into Houston without any problems and get our connecting flight. See you all in a week with lots of fun pictures to post.

Spring has Sprung!

I planted these snapdragons last winter and they never did anything but sit there and not grow. Well, now they are going crazy in the backyard and it is beautiful.
This is another space I put them and now they love the warm weather and sun. Can't say I blame them!! I just love getting up in the morning and looking out my front and back yards to such a wonderful view. We are so blessed!

Yes, that is my lounge chair in the proper place for a good sun tan!! I have to get my lily white skin ready for Cancun you know!!
I couldn't let Alexis beat us in the garden department. We kind of cheated by purchasing plants that were already growing! Well, some of them, the corn in the back and the beans in front of them were from seeds. We have strawberries but have to fight the birds to get to them first! The zucchini is already blooming and so are some of the tomato plants. We have watermelon, cantaloupe, 4 different kinds of tomatoes, yellow zucchini and green zucchini, strawberries, green pepper and I think that is it. Pretty amazing to watch it grow. Sid loves tending the garden. I guess he gets that from his dad who is the garden expert.

Please pray for Wayne & Laurie

Many of you know what has happened to our nephew Jesse. He is still in critical condition at the University of Utah and still on life support. He is fighting for his life at this point and if he comes out of this coma he could well be unable to function as a normal adult. We hope all that read this blog will pray for Jesse and especially for Wayne and Laurie to endure this trial they are going through. For those of you who don't know what happened, Jesse was accidentally prescribed 23 times the amount of medication he should have had which put him in a drug induced coma. If it were not for Wayne checking on him before going to bed on Wednesday night he would be dead. Our prayers are with the whole family to be comforted and hopefully be able to find the answers that you need to help Jesse fight this condition. We love you Wayne and Laurie and we hope Jesse has the will to fight with all his might to come back to your family.

At the airport

Sid at the airport enjoying his McDonalds Shake!! He is so photogenic don't you think???

The night life

This was the night view that we had from our hotel room.
We went to Disney Walk and enjoyed the shops and ate dinner. We had really yummy Carnetas (sp?) and enjoyed people watching. These are taken at Lego World. It is so HUGE is was hard to get it in the picture.
I don't know why this is turned sideways but here I am next to this big guy!

Sid's a little washed out but you get the idea. The Darth Vader guy was all made from Legos too.

Weekend in LA

It is always fun to see so many palm trees in one place. These are just outside the convention center and I saw them every day we walked to classes. The weather was great and it was a nice walk from our hotel. Sid attended a lot of classes on peridontal desease and I took classes in getting your practice organized and productive. Sid doesn't like to change things much so anything I learned he immediately says it won't work in my office!!!

We stayed at the Sherton Hotel and it was across from the California Adventure side of Disneyland. At night we could see the lights and the fireworks. We were on the 9th floor.
This is the view from our balcony. We watched the people swim in their pool and I had a chance to swim in our pool a couple of times while Sid was in class. (Hard life I know!)
