Super Fun Pot Luck

OK, so you are wondering how in the world did we get a picture with Shelby and his dog Bently at the Burgess home! Well, we were having a fine pot luck get together at the Burgess's home and we see a guy at the front door and it was Shelby and Christina with their twins. We were thrilled to see them and get to see their cute babies. They are in California for a few weeks and so they saw my pimped out ride and thought it was my car and decided to come over. So great to see them!
Here is Dad with one of the twins Brady after he woke up from a nap. He is a little startled with all of the attention!
Here are the twins, Olivia and Brady before he woke up. They are as different as night and day and soooooo cute and cuddly.

Jay, Jon and Sid enjoying the meal. It was really good Bar-b-que and fixins. Debbie and Jon have a beautiful new back yard that they finished for Katie's reception and it was such a great night to eat on the deck.
Here are the lovely ladies at the other end of the table!! We had such a wonderful time talking and I don't think I have laughed so hard in a long time. My face hurt from laughing so much! We decided to do this once a month so next month it is my turn on the 28th. We will do a mystery meat dinner for them all and let them guess what they are eating!!! Should be lots of fun.

Kands & Nic

Kandis and Nic came for a short visit last week and we had fun doing things with them. As you all know Kandis is expecting their first baby even though she does not look like it. She is about 1/2 way through her pregnancy at this point. While she was here we (me!) could not wait any longer to know the sex of the baby so we found a place in Roseville that does ultrasounds. We set up an appointment and went in to find out the sex. It was amazing to see the baby kick and move around and see the heart beating. You get 10 pictures and a CD of the ultrasound. Really cool thing to do and makes shopping so much more fun when you know what the sex of the baby is. I won't tell you until she posts it on her blog. She is having her official ultrasound this Friday at her doctors office so she might wait until then to post it. We were glad we could spend some time with Grandpa so he could show off his chickens again.
Here is a cute picture of Grandpa with Ava. He was thrilled to meet her for the first time and just loved holding her. Ava loves her Great Grandpa Kelly!!
Hey Pool Boy!! Would you sweep the pool please!! Nic was great at sweeping the pool for me. I could not resist taking this picture with his shirt off!! He was glad to pose for me (he he he)
Do you know what this is??? If you guessed the "Mother Lode Cake" at Claim Jumper you are right!! We had to have a piece of this for dessert! Don't worry we didn't eat the whole cake. We just had a single piece with ice cream and we still could not finish it. Now that you have all left and we do not expect any more visitors for awhile I need to go back on WW and loose the poundage that I gained by having company here!! Shame on all of you for making me eat at these restaurants! (In -n-Out!, Costa Vida, Claim Jumper, Loomis Chinese, Big spoon, )Back to eating normal again!

My Redneck is back!

As you can see Sid had a successful hunt in Utah with his bow and buddy Russ. They had a great time watching all the Antelope from their blinds and watching all the deer at night. Here is Sid after he got his Antelope. He had to retrieve it from the pond that it fell into after he shot it.
This is the blind that he sat in and watched them come and drink. I kind of think it looks weird next to the water but apparently the antelope don't think it looks strange. (Danger Will Robinson!)
Here is Russ with his record book buck! He said he is going to get this one mounted so I hope his wife Bonnie knows about that. I am the lucky one this trip since Sid felt his antelope was not worthy of mounting!! (Big sigh of relief)
This is the room with the view from his blind!! I don't think I would like to spend more than 10 minutes inside of this thing!! We had antelope steak for dinner last night and it tasted a lot like venison (deer). It wasn't bad but it is not my favorite. I am glad this little guy didn't weigh in at hundreds of pounds! I am still holding out for my buffalo.

Update

I just thought this was a cool picture of Ava holding Mikes finger. She is so strong for a little baby and moves her head around all by herself.
Just another shot of Ava getting ready to go out!! Now that we have a baby in the house I will have plenty of pictures to blog. I hope you all don't get sick of looking at her.
You know how there is a delay in the camera when you are taking pictures??? Well, we were taking pictures of Ava and we got this really funny shot. Brayden thought it was so funny that her tongue was sticking out so I asked him to do the same thing and that is what he is doing in the next picture. I couldn't stop him from laughing so hard while we were doing this!!
Here is Brayden imitating Ava!! (I told you I would put in on my blog Brayden!)
Sid is gone to Utah on an Antelope hunt this week and we have Kandis and Nic visiting this week with us. We are having fun shopping and eating and of course just watching the Olympics. I sure wish they were on earlier so I could get to bed earlier!! The kids went up to four falls yesterday and I got to babysit Ava. She was perfect!! We ate ribs for dinner and of course we had Loomis Chinese a few days ago!! (yes Alexis, we had the sweet and sour shrimp in your honor!) Sid called and said he got his antelope and will be home on Saturday. His hunting buddy Russ got one on Tuesday so they are both happy campers. Sid promised me that he will not be mounting this one so no worries for my family room walls! I am still holding out for the Buffalo!

Matthew turns 32!

I can't believe that Matt is 32. My first born child is 32!! It has been a very long time since we were able to celebrate a birthday with Matt and so on Sunday the 10th we had the big turkey dinner and birthday cake.
Andrew wanted to help blow out the candles too!!
Glad we didn't have to call the fire department to get the fire out!! Notice the smoke filled room?? Happy birthday Matt, we love you!!

Fishing with the "Boys"

On Friday we took the grandkids to fish at stumpy meadows near Georgtown. Sid checked on line to see if they had planted fish and so off we went. The boys were pretty good in the car even though Brayden must have asked a 100 times how long it was going to take to get to the place!! This picture was taken when we first put the poles in the lake.
Brayden was getting good at catching little blue gill. He had fun doing fish surgery to get the hooks out!! They are small but at least you are catching something.
This is a picture of Andrew fishing at stumpy meadows. This was before his melt down!! No further explanation needed. We did finish on a high note when Brayden caught a larger cat fish but again we let it go!

Pictures of Ava

I took this first picture with the flash and it startled her in her sleep so we quit taking pictures with the flash. That is why the color looks different in the pictures below.
I took her little hat off so you could see all the very dark hair she has. She really has a cute little head and not to bad of a cone head at this point.
I think she has Christy's eyes and Mike's nose and lips. You will have to see her with her eyes open. She is a very calm sweet baby and just loves looking all around at everything.
When she smiles she has dimples on her cheeks. We will get better pictures when she comes home tonight. You will probably get sick of all the pictures that we will show you!! She is sleeping and nursing really well and Christy is feeling really good at this point, walking, moving around etc. Mike has already changed a "poopy" diaper and had her poop while he was changing her!! One of many more of those I am sure.

Loraya in the Hospital

We are so sad to hear about Loraya in the hospital. So far they thought it was Nephrotic Syndrome but have ruled that out and call it after infection kidney disease. I really don't know what that is all about but trust the doctors in her care to figure it all out for her. We had an up and down day yesterday with the birth of Ava and then to hear about Loraya right after that. Our prayers are with you Loraya and Jacob and Julia. We are so sad that Jacob and Julia will not be able to come to California for their summer trip. I know they would have liked to have been here to hold the new baby and visit old friends. We will find another time for you to come!! I promise.

Kayaking with the Cooks

On Saturday the Cooks invited us to go kayaking with them at rattlesnake bar at Folsom Lake. The water level is really low so we had to carry the kayaks to the water and then get in. It was so much fun. We left around 5pm and paddled for about an hour and then had a light dinner we packed and then headed back.
This is me in the kayak that they said could not be tipped over. Well, I proved them wrong!! When I was getting back into the kayak after dinner I tipped it over getting in!! The water was a little cold but I was OK!!
This is where we stopped and had dinner. It was such a great evening with wonderful neighbors! We saw deer, turkey, geese, buzzards, ducks etc. Sid was in outdoor heaven!!

Grand Baby #7 Has Arrived

Today at 6:30pm our latest grand baby arrived weighing in at 7 pounds 9 ounces 20 inches long. She is so cute and has lots of dark hair. Her name so far will be Ava Kelly unless they decide on a middle name. Pictures to follow as we get them from Mike's camera. Mother and baby doing great and Daddy is very proud. It all started this morning at 8:00am when Christy's water broke and that made for an exciting morning. Christy got ready and off they went to the hospital and the rest is pretty text book labor and delivery. I will let them tell you all the details on their blog!! Can't wait for her to come home!!
