Well, here are the 31 chicks that grandpa ordered. They are 1 week old in this picture. He called this morning and said one of them is sick so he has removed him from the group and feeding him special water with medicine in it. Notice the little roosts he built to teach them to roost in the coop.
this is the side of the coop that people enter. Grandpa is explaining how he wished he would have put an overhang on the outside to protect the front from the weather. He can still do it I suppose.
This is the view you get from the house. He will be putting a little door on the right side of the coop for the chickens to be able to go in and out. The chain link fence goes up this week. the chicks have to stay in the pen in the garage until they are 10 weeks old. He will then move them into the coop. Grandpa is so funny when he talks about his little babies!! He says he puts them to bed around 9:30pm and then they get up so early. I asked him what they do when they get up and he said they start eating and drinking and running around the pen. (And that's a problem????) He sure is getting attached to these little guys. I would not be surprised if he named them all.

Ah, how cute are those baby chicks?! I don't blame him for getting attached and I'm sure you would too, Mom! Ha ha.
